Congratulations to Perry Keith and his Cowboys on 1301 wins!

WARNER – Connors State won its 11th consecutive baseball game Saturday afternoon at Biff Thompson Field sweeping Central Lakes, Minn., in a twin bill 11-0, 9-1 as Cowboys head coach Perry Keith won No. 1,301 against just 366 losses.

“I’ve been very fortunate over the years to have some very good players in getting that many wins and it’s a tribute to them for all their hard work,” said Keith following the doubleheader victory.

The twin killing gives the Cowboys a 15-2 mark for the year. Connors will next meet Coffeyville Community College on Tuesday on the road, before taking on Maplewoods, Mo., in a doubleheader at Thompson Field on Wednesday.

Connors took an early lead in the opener grabbing a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Chris Tavares walked and came across the plate for the first run on a RBI triple by Korey Keith down the right field line. Dalton Daniels followed with a double down the left field line scoring Keith for a 2-0 Connors lead.

Cowboys put the game away in the third inning when they erupted for nine runs. In the inning Connors pounded out four hits, and Central Lakes pitchers walked three Cowboys and hit another .

Tavares pounded out two hits with a RBI, while Phil Diedrick, Braden Cook and Daniels each had two RBIs in the game, which went only five innings.

Kelvin Rivas started on the mound for Connors and picked up his second win of the season.  He struck out six and allowed only one hit in four innings.

The nightcap was more of the same as Connors scored six runs in the first inning. In the inning Corey Mills had an RBI double, with Jared Graham and Hunter Spencer adding RBI singles. Mills, Caleb Banks and Mike Maddox each had two hits in the nightcap.

Connors added a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth inning. Cook doubled home two runs in the sixth frame.

Eli Roundtree allowed just one hit and struck out seven in getting his first win of the season.
