Connors State College Administrator Inducted to Hall of Fame

National speaker and retired Connors State College Executive Vice President, Dr. Jo Lynn Autry Digranes, has been selected to the Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges Hall of Fame.

Digranes spent 21 of her 35-plus-year career at Connors State College in a variety of capacities.  Beginning in 1991, she served as the assistant to the director of the Muskogee campus.  In 1994 she was promoted to the Vice President for Continuing Education and Director at the same campus.  By 1997 she branched into the technology leadership, serving as the VP for Academic Services and Technology at the Warner and Muskogee campuses until 2001 when she began serving as the Executive Vice President for all campuses as well as the acting Vice President for Academic Services.

“During my undergraduate college days I enjoyed attending school and being involved in the activities, so I believed education, particularly higher education, would be a good career,” said Digranes.

Pursuing her passion, Digranes attended Oklahoma State University where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in sociology and later a Master’s of Science degree in Student Personnel and Guidance for Higher Education.  In 1987, she completed the Ph.D. program at The University of Oklahoma, earning her PhD in Educational Technology.

For 35 years, Digranes worked in K-12 public education, community colleges, universities (both private and public), and Native American education agencies.  Since 1997, Digranes has served as a peer reviewer, team chair, and member of many review panels for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, one of six regional accreditors.  She is a member of the Muscogee Creek Nation.

Her commitment to education can also be seen in the numerous publications she has authored, and co-authored with her husband, and the presentations she has given around the globe, all designed to help students and teachers alike.

A native of Wetumka, Digranes is married to Dr. Swen H. Digranes, Professor Emeritus at Northeastern State University.  Her family includes a son, Shawn, and two grandchildren, Kylee and nate.

“We are very proud of Dr. Digranes,” said Connors State College President, Dr. Tim Faltyn.  “She has dedicated her life to teaching others and we are very grateful to have had the opportunity to, not only work with, but learn and grow with her here at Connors.”

The Hall of Fame induction was designed to recognize the tireless commitment to improving higher education opportunities for all citizens in Oklahoma, regardless of their wealth, heritage, or previous academic experience. Throughout her career, Digranes has been a well-respected leader admired by faculty, staff, students, and peers.

“It is certainly an honor to be recognized and to join such a distinguished group of inductees,” Digranes said.  “Working within the Oklahoma community college system was one of the most valuable and enjoyable experiences in my career.”

Digranes will receive her award on noon, Friday, October 4, 2013, at the Annual Conference in the Reed Conference Center in Midwest City, Okla.
