Connors State College students recently got the chance to experience what it is like to drive and walk a straight line under the influence of alcohol thanks to specially designed goggles that emulate the effects of delayed motor skills.
Students attempted to drive a go kart through an obstacle course while wearing the goggles. They were then asked to walk a straight line by Connors’ Chief of Police James Mendenhall. While the results of both provided hilarious entertainment the seriousness of driving under the influence was not lost on the students.
The activity, sponsored by the Office of Student Activities, was one of many activities designed to educate students and provide entertainment during the first week of school known as Week of Welcome.
