A warm spring day is the perfect occasion for a baseball game, especially a game at Biff Thompson Field to watch the #19 ranked Connors State Cowboys. For the 135 Hilldale Elementary students it was known as the “World’s Best Fieldtrip” and involved tours of campus, free giveaways and a nine inning game against Murray State. This field trip followed a visit earlier in the week to the elementary by Head Coach, Perry Keith and Cowboys, Korey Keith, Daniel Concepcion, Caleb Banks, Christian Perez and Dalton Daniels. Coach Keith and the players spoke to the students about the importance of college, doing your homework and studying for tests. Before the game kicked off, the students were greeted by College President Dr Tim Faltyn and then had the opportunity to charge the field and stand at their favorite position during the national anthem. Representing Hilldale Elementary, Fifth grade student, Brooke Sides threw out the first pitch for the Cowboys. “This is definitely and exciting trip for our students,” said fifth grade teacher Danielle Hambrick. “We thought it was important and beneficial to expose our students to college even at this age and get them thinking about their future.”
The Cowboys are currently 18-1 and a riding a 16 game winning streak.
