The Connors State College Show Team exhibited 12 bulls and heifers at the Houston Livestock Show February 24-March 3. The week was capped off with CSC Hitch Hiker 127 claiming the Grand Champion International Santa Gertrudis Bull. “Hitch,” exhibited by Show Team Coach, Dale Pitchford, beat out over 40 bulls to claim the elite title. The wins continued for CSC with the Senior Herd Sire, Hef-A-Nizer’s Progeny being named Champion Get-of-Sire, as well as one of his off spring being named Bull Calf Champion (Remington). Additional places included, CSC Kelly 255, Second place and CSC Whitney 242, Fourth Place out of 30 heifers in their class. CSC Playmaker 286 came in second in his class out of ten bulls. CSC also made its mark in the Simmental Division with the Champion Yearling Bull, Moonshiner Y91.
“The Houston Livestock Show is one of the largest and most renowned Livestock Shows in the Country. The impact that our college made down at the show is priceless, we are not only on the map in the U.S. but made great strides in the International market as well. Our Show Team gained valuable experience and really showed professionalism throughout the entire week. I am so proud to be a part of such a great institution,” said Show Team Coach, Dale Pitchford. Show Team members who traveled with the team and helped prep the show cattle were Cecile Harris, Hannah Allen, Whitney McCullom, Kylie Duggan, Lindsey Duggan, Issac Blankenship and Hunter Bradley.
