Field Ornithology is a one hour class in techniques used to identify, study and monitor birds and bird populations. Students will be introduced to resources available to help identify and study birds in the field. The course will include the proper use of binoculars, spotting scopes and field guides (both printed and electronic versions). The course will also introduce students to field techniques used to survey bird populations.
The class will meet at the Port Campus in Room 18 for an early morning session and then go outside for the remainder of the day. Proper outdoor clothing is recommended, and some local area travel will be involved.
