Gonzalez & Keith Named NJCAA All-Americans


Connors State College’s Yariel Gonzalez and Korey Keith have been named NJCAA Division I Baseball All-Americans. Gonzalez, a freshman infielder from San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, is a second team selection and Keith an honorable mention selection.


Gonzalez, who played third base for the Cowboys, was Connors State’s second leading hitter with a .420 batting average. The freshman knocked out 17 doubles, two triples and 12 home runs, while collecting 75 runs-batted-in to lead the Cowboys.

Gonzalez had 8 stolen bases and had an on-base-percentage of .449 and a slugging percentage of .680. He also scored 52 runs.


Keith, a sophomore from Warner, was an honorable mention selection at the designated hitter position. Keith, who played first base for the Cowboys, hit .for a .435 average to lead the Cowboys, which included 11 doubles, 7 home runs with 57 RBIs for an on-base-percentage of .545 and .609 slugging percentage. He had 5 stolen bases for the year and led the team in walks with 42.


At the NJCAA College World Series in Grand Junction, Colo., Gonzalez was 4-for-10 at the plate which included a home run, double and triple and 5 RBIs in the three games.

Keith went 5-for-10 with an RBI in the tournament.
