Deven Simms named NJCAA first team All-American

No.-23-Deven-SimmsConnors State’s Deven Simms, 6-5 sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., has been named  a NJCAA first team All-American it was announced Friday by NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee.
Simms averaged 20.7 points an outing to lead the 13th-ranked Cowboys, who finished 26-5 overall and 16-2 in Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference for their third consecutive league title, in scoring. He shot 57.2 percent from the field (187-327) and 74.8 percent at the free throw line (122-163). He also has 99 assists for 4.1
Simms is Cowboys’ Head Coach Bill Muse’s 15th All-American and 5th first team All-American.
The sophomore, who is being recruited by Arkansas State and Central Michigan, was also the Region II and OCAC Player of the Year.
