Nursing Students Participate in Veterans Hiring Fair

The 2013 Eastern Oklahoma Veteran and Military Hiring Fair held at the Muskogee Civic Center allowed veterans the opportunity to see what was available from various colleges and businesses. Connors State College (CSC) was one of over a hundred vendors in attendance at the vent. CSC not only provided the programs for the event, but the colleges Student Nursing Association also set up a booth to provide health assessments to fair participants.  The students assessed more than 60 of the 400 participants, including Muskogee Mayor, Bob Coburn. The assessments included blood pressure, heart rate/rhythm/strength, respiratory rate/rhythm/effort, and height-weight assessment as well as tips on how to improve basic health like stress reduction. The eight nursing students who ran the booth were: Aaron Wilson, Maranda Stout, Misty Burns, Kelina Phiefer, Angela McGee, La’Trishia Rollerson, Valerie Gilstrap and Jayme Stepp.
