Connors State College held its annual Connors Got Talent showcase at the Roxy Theater in Muskogee Thursday, April 30. The event was open to the public and showcased some of Connors’ most talented students.
“We have a lot of really talented students,” said Cody Clovis, Student Activities Coordinator. “It’s a lot of fun to watch, and one of the best free shows around.”
Acts included Michael Byers performing a drum solo called Triple Slappa Flappaddile, Stephen McClurg singing Long Black Train, Kristen Terrapin singing Let it Go with her niece, Nella Worthan singing Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, Eileen Thomas signing to God Gave Me You, Shania Kay Phillips singing Do it Anyway, Kasey Wagnon singing Blowing Smoke accompanied by Dillon Burns on the guitar, Makenna Hukill singing The Line, Tyler Oudley singing One Mississippi, Samantha Baben reading an untitled poem, and Dillon Burns singing It Goes Like This.
The students performed in front of a crowd of approximately 70 people and were judged by CSC employees Lynette Rock, Science/PE Department Chair, Dr. Gary Grady, Psychology Instructor, and Jonathon Rowe, Coordinator of Residential Life.
The winners were: Burns in first place, Hukill in second and Worthan in third. From this group a student will be selected to sing the National Anthem at the CSC Commencement ceremony on May 9. In addition Kasey Wagnon and Dillon Burns will open at the Third Annual Connors State College FREE Concert, featuring Cody Canada and The Departed and Uncle Lucius on Friday, May 2, 2014.
