It didn’t take the Connors State softball team long to give the coach another milestone.
After a sweep of Western State, giving Rick Carbone wins No. 798 and 799 at Connors State, the Cowgirls run-ruled Western State 9-1 in the ?rst game of a twin bill for the coachs 800th win at the helm of Connors State softball.
Its one of those things that kind of crept on me, Carbone said. Its a good thing.
The Cowgirls completed a sweep of Sundays doubleheader with an 11-10 victory to push Connors record to 24-11 and improve Carbones record at CSC to 801-250.
Two former area prep players played key roles in the ?rst game. Checotah ex Taylor Davidson was the winning pitcher, improving her season record to 3-4 while registering three strikeouts while Keys grad Sydni Rainbolt was one of three Cowgirls to hit a home run, along with Ashley Fletcher, her seventh in three days, and Bailey Hewlet.
Game two was a nip and tuck affair for the Cowgirls, the No. 1 hit-ting team in the NJCAA with a .445 batting aver-age.
Connors trailed 10-7 going into the bottom of the sixth when Summer Higgins blasted a three-run home run, her ninth of the year, to tie the game. The Cowgirls completed the sweep when Hewlet scored the game-winner on a Western error.
Hilldale grad Hillary Calvert and Muskogee ex Shaylee Rowland were both 2-for-4 in the nightcap.
