Digital Accessibility Resources



The following resources provide general information and guidance related to digital accessibility.

These materials are intended to support understanding of standards, best practices, and available tools.



  • Foundations of Digital Accessibility (ITLE) 
    An introductory course developed by OSU’s Institute for Teaching, Learning, and Excellence that provides an overview of digital accessibility concepts and practices. (OKEY, Canvas access required)

  • Oklahoma ABLE Tech 
    Oklahoma’s Assistive Technology Act program offering information and resources related to accessible technology and digital access.




  • OSU Web Accessibility Guidelines 
    Guidelines for creating and maintaining accessible web content that meets Oklahoma State University’s branding and accessibility standards.

  • OSU Digital Accessibility Policy (1-0136) 
    Standards for the accessibility of digital information and services considered necessary to meet the OSU System goals and ensure compliance with applicable law.

  • Social Media Accessibility Best Practices (Brand Management)
    Though not all social media features are accessible, every platform has avenues to make content accessible for everyone. To the extent it’s possible, follow the guidelines and best practices.



  • Accessibility Resources & Information (DASNR) 
    Accessibility tips, training, and guidelines. Created and compiled by the OSU Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. (OKEY required)

  • WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool 
    A free tool that helps identify potential accessibility issues on web pages. Automated tools can highlight some issues but do not identify all accessibility barriers.

  • Contrast Checker (WebAIM) 
    Check color contrast to ensure text is readable and meets accessibility standards.

  • Canvas Accessibility Checker 
    A guide on using the Accessibility Checker in the Rich Content Editor to detect and fix common accessibility issues in Canvas content.

  • Web Accessibility Initiative Resources 
    Collection of resources from the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) supporting accessible design, development, and evaluation of web content and technologies.

  • Accessibility Auditor (Squiz) 
    Guidance on checking and improving the accessibility of search results and metadata with the university’s web vendor.
