WARNER, Okla. — Connors State College is pleased to welcome Cody Hastings as the new Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

Hastings comes to Connors State College after seven years at ASU Mid-South, including the last three as head coach of the Greyhounds. During the 2025-26 season, he led the program to a 27-8 record, Region 2 Regular Season and Tournament Championships, a Central Plains District Championship and a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament. His success earned him Region 2 Coach of the Year and Central Plains District Coach of the Year honors.

In addition to success on the court, Hastings emphasized academic achievement, helping the program earn a 3.3 team GPA during the 2025-26 season while maintaining a 100 percent graduation rate among sophomores. Multiple student-athletes earned conference and NJCAA academic honors under his leadership.

Before becoming head coach, Hastings served as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s basketball programs at ASU Mid-South and helped guide the Greyhounds to conference, district, and national tournament success. He also served as Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Communications. Prior to ASU Mid-South, he was a graduate assistant coach at Howard Payne University while earning his Master of Business Administration degree.

A native of Stockdale, Texas, Hastings played collegiately at Howard Payne University after serving as a two-year team captain at San Antonio College. He and his fiancée, Chelsea, are set to be married in July and have a six-year-old daughter, Cali.

“I am more than honored and excited to be the new Men’s Basketball Coach at Connors State,” Hastings said. “Throughout the hiring process, everyone made me feel like I was already at home. I could feel the joy and passion that people have for Connors State and my family and I are excited to become part of the Cowboy family.”

Hastings said his goal is to continue the winning tradition of Connors State basketball while developing student-athletes for success beyond the court.

“Our plan is to uphold the winning tradition that has been established here for a long time,” he said. “Of course, we want to win on the floor, but we also want to ensure our student-athletes are prepared for success after Connors State. We will continue to have high academic expectations and help develop young men who are ready for life beyond basketball.”

Hastings also emphasized the importance of community involvement and creating a program that serves beyond the basketball court.

“Getting out in the community is something that I want us to be really involved in,” Hastings said. “Whether it’s helping local businesses, schools, or community organizations, we want our student-athletes to understand that serving others goes a long way. We want to represent Connors State well and make a positive impact throughout the community.”
