- Apply ASAP after October 1st.
- You do not need to file your income taxes with the IRS before you complete the FAFSA.
- Try to use the IRS Retrieval Tool when filling out the FAFSA (It will save you pain later)
- If you are asked to verify tax information, you will need your IRS Tax Transcript not your tax return.
- Respond to all requests immediately or as soon as possible.
- Keep a copy of all documents related to financial aid
- Read all information in the Award section of your My Connors Account
- Re-apply for financial aid every year you plan to go to school (each October) for the upcoming academic year.
- Ask specific questions related to information you do not understand!!!
- Remember to observe all due dates.
- High School students: If you plan to attend college the summer after graduation, you must fill out the FAFSA by July 2nd.
- The deadline for state aid (OTAG) is as soon after October 1st as possible. OTAG will be awarded on a first come first serve basis until state funds are depleted.
